There’s this passage in the Bible that says “do to others how you’d like them to do to you”. This passage of the Bible is so powerful that when applied to your business – creating goodwill and great value through your free webinar – can change your life and business dramatically.
Did you notice the recent trend in the online marketing community? Folks are increasingly finding it extremely difficult to trust the average online marketer with their money – with the exception of a scenario where you’re known as an authority or a celebrity in your niche – and they have a good reason for this.
The number #1 reason is because there is a ton of fake experts flying all over the Internet – who couldn’t deliver on their promises and this makes it harder for folks to shell out their hard-earned money on another fake expert hiding behind a computer screen or fancy sales letters.
But the case is always different if you’re an expert or at least perceived as being one. Experts will always have an advantage.
And when you educate and help people on your webinar, you’re automatically seen as an expert!
So how do you position yourself as an expert when everyone and their grandmother are trying hard to sell to the same group of people with similar packaging?
The answer is simple: GIVE.
Yep, that’s right.
Give in order to receive.
Give in order to be perceived as the go-to person in your market.
Give in order to be seen as a trusted authority.
Give in order to be seen as an expert.
So the question is how do you give and what do you give in order to get the aforementioned blessings?
One of my favorite quotes is from Dan Kennedy when I was working with him. He said “People will give you money (tons of it) if you can prove to them that you can help them by actually helping them in advance.”
What this means is, folks will literally force you to accept money from them if you can show them that you can help them solve a particular problem by giving them some help right before they give you their money.
That’s creating goodwill. This does not mean you should give away the whole farm. If you do, they will thank you immensely and say “goodbye” or “see you later”
There won’t be any money for you. No consolation for your time and efforts. This means the bills won’t be paid, not to talk of the glare your wife and kids will give you when you tell them that they won’t be vacationing because you got no money
So how do you do this? You can do this with your webinar.
Simply get the most helpful part of what you offer and cut out the excess fat or the less informative or less helpful part.
After they’ve devoured the training you offered on the webinar and are hooked by their awareness of your supernatural powers to help them, you could then ask them to fill out an application to get further help from you. We will be covering this part shortly.
This will ultimately force them to think “well if Joe is giving this away for free, paying him will give me something even greater”. Now you will meet less resistance when you present them with your offer.
Because They’ve already been pre-sold by your free value and are now more receptive to buying from you.
This way you’ve positioned yourself as the guru, the expert, the go-to-person in your market because you’ve demonstrated this by helping them right before they paid you for it.
I know for some coaches, consultants and professional service providers, they offer free coaching or free consulting sessions instead of free webinars. This, in my opinion, wastes a lot of time.
So what other route can you follow if you don’t want to waste your time? You could use free webinars or online training workshops. If you can deliver immense value during the training workshop, folks will be very interested in getting the premium paid package or service from you. And if you want to take this up a notch, simply automate one of your best webinars or training workshops.
In essence, giving out free stuff works every time. I mean, do you realize how powerful this methodology can be when applied to your business? It doesn’t matter what market you’re in. It works in all markets.
The restaurant down the road that advertises free meals, what do you think the restaurant owner is doing? Giving in order to receive.
They know that if they give you the tastiest of their meal free of charge, you will most likely come back to pay for the same meal next time. Though it may not taste so good as the first one you ate, you’re paying for it anyway.
But the secret to success in any business is to keep the quality as good as the first time or even better.
If you compromise quality you will notice that you will need to always hunt for new customers every time because you keep losing the old ones. The key to business growth and expansion is getting repeat business or retaining old customers.
